The Much Loved Blow Fly Close Up
The blow fly is a kewl metallic green/blue color and a bit bigger than houseflies. Blow flies feed on decaying meat and organic matter. Their habitat is often hanging around rubbish bins, however i caught this one sunbathing on some ivy in the garden here today in the the UK. The blow fly likes fresh meat and is often the first to arrive at a new carcass, where it lays its eggs which quickly hatch into maggots. Blow flies also lay eggs in wounds and have been used medicinally to clean wounds. They can transfer bacteria so not a farmers favourite! Hope you enjoy! Peace! :D
