Furry blue-headed spider

I wonder why this otherwise shell like body has a furry head? For the same reasons we do? That in itself is not easy to get to the bottom of!

I was about 50cm from the spider. But as you can see in my other post with the damselfly, here for this one I was about 1.5 metres away.
