Lycianthes rantonnetii

Lycianthes rantonnetii, the blue potato hedge or Paraguay nightshadeis a types of blossoming plant in the nightshade family Solanaceae, local to South America.Growing to around 6 ft (1.8 m) tall and broad[1], it is an adjusted evergreen bush with a to some degree careless propensity. An abundance of trumpet-formed, splendid blue-purple blossoms with a conspicuous yellow eye show up in summer, trailed by red berries. It is generally developed and might be strong in gentle or beach front territories. On the other hand it tends to be developed in a holder and brought under cover in winter. It requires a shielded area in full sun.Though identified with sustenance plants like the potato and tomato, all parts of the plant are viewed as poisonous to people.

It has been given the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

The species is named for Barthélémy Victor Rantonnet, a nineteenth century French horticulturalist.
