Sometimes Democracy really isn't

WOW! I am stunned about what has happened in Clark County Nevada this month.
In April we voted on a platform for the Democratic Party this election cycle and passed our little area’s version with almost unanimous support. After all the input from rank and file members to make it right, we voted on the final version that we would send to the State Convention to be blended with the other Counties in Nevada. “That platform was approved by the Chair of the Platform Committee, and published on April 27 by CCDP Chair West.” “Within just a few hours later, a revised platform was published by Chair West. Three planks on human rights had been mysteriously removed without proper democratic process.” Upon our attempts to have them reinstated we were met with open denial and rejection of our petition. We appealed to the Chair of the Platform Committee and we were met with open denials by Chair West.
“Sadly, Party Chair West and Platform Committee Chair Horner chose not to attend despite repeated invitations to provide a satisfactory explanation for the last-minute unilateral platform change.” So, when we voted again on the version to be submitted to the State Party, we all voted it down, a “NO” vote.

“Unfortunately, Chair West has so far denied the will of the party members she was elected to serve and has refused to restore the original platform. The Executive Board therefore urges all convention delegates to vote “no” on the party platform until the situation can be resolved.”

When we have our County Convention at the end of May, we will again request the re-instatement of the items and vote again. The items in question concern “ the human rights for Palestinians, Having Their Lands restored, and demanding Israel put a halt their fight.”
We will also be trying to get a vote of “No Confidence” against the Platform Committee Chair and the Chairwoman who is openly supporting the DNC and their AIPAC money they receive. If this is any indication, the Democratic Party of the United States is in very sad shape, indeed.
