【Buddhism in Plain Terms】
Mind and Buddha Nature
You need to learn to develop a broad mind. If you can let go of the trivial issues in life, even your skin will glow. Take a look at those with glowing skin. They are usually the ones who worry the least, I’m serious about this. I told you a long time ago, don’t make troubles for yourself, it’s silly to do so! I would like you all to cultivate your mind until you get to your initial true heart, as if you’re a kid again. Aren’t kids cute? So innocent? They laugh a lot and they are not afraid of saying the wrong things. That’s what kids are like. They are cute because they don’t over-think things and they are always happy. Even though you are older now, you should still think in a clean, healthy way like a kid and not have a cluttered mind. That is what it really means to stay young. 1
Master Lu says:
In your mind, build a wall with your Buddha nature.
This wall will withstand, transform and resolve all the obstacles that you face in the world. 2
Buddha nature is nothing other than what we already are and live with it every day but do not recognise it. 3
A long time ago many people could attain Buddhahood. Why is it so much harder now? Because there are too many temptations and distractions in modern society. When food was simple a long time ago, there weren’t so many delicious foods. When women dressed simply and plainly, they didn’t have the sorts of skin-tight clothing modern women have that gets them the wrong attention today. All these temptations and distractions are bad for everyone. Society today is all about money and all the things money can buy. Money is a huge magnet for people. Many will do anything for money and that’s purely driven by their material desires. The more temptations there are, the more we desire. We want so many things that we couldn’t let go of anything in the end. 1
