Super Mario pencil drawing - Learn to Draw with friends tutorial
Super Mario is one of the most iconic videogame heroes of all time, representing a company , Nintendo, and a franchise, Super Mario bros. games.
Mario also starred in multiple other videogames, for example as a referee in Punch Out for the nes.
The first Mario game is ranked 5th in the list of best selling video games.
Let's take a moment to analyze the proprtions of mario. Like I said in my post on Crash Bandicoot, dividing our character in simple geometric shapes will help sketch him fast without having to draw a grid or take complicated measurments.
I think the best way is to draw 3 circles with the same diameter, one on top of the other, and on the last one we will add half a diameter above it and draw a bigger circle.
More or less his face ,his belly, and his feet occupy one circle each, and his hat extends to the bigger circumference we draw last.
Using this technique, we can easily and rapidly sketch a few marios , even in different poses.
Let's go on and se the differen sketching and coloring fases:
Here we start using some colored pencils on mario: on his face I used an ochre, then in later steps I'll go over it with maybe pink, white and other colors ti give it differnt shading.
Remember to use your colored pencils in circles, try even keeping them at different angles for different effects, and be ready to do 4-5-6-7-8 passes on the same part until, we hope, the paper under it is completely covered.
Hint of the day: In Art supplies shops they sell special transperent pencils to smooth and blend colored pencils, but, if you don't want to spend money, just use the white one oiver your colored layer and see if it works.
Thanks to all and 'till next time.
My son is a big Mario fan and he was impressed with your drawing. (So sorry I cannot upvote to show my appreciation but I'm out of power and need to recharge a bit. It's very frustrating!)
No problem, Thanks for your support.
Looks so cool.😍
Fantastic process post once again @giuatt07. You are becoming an expert at these. :) You're tips on getting the proportions right and for using coloured pencils are excellent and I'm sure will help others (including myself) feel more confident in attempting coloured pictures in future. You have done an excellent job here mate. Thank you! :)
