Cumberland Falls is one of the rare places on Earth were you can see a moon-bow. A few years ago I was attending a writing workshop and ran into an old friend. That night was a full moon, so we decided to be spontaneous and drive down to the falls. Cumberland Falls is known as the "Niagara of the South", and truly lives up to the name. The area just below the falls are adorned with massive building size boulders, and the river is lined by sandstone cliffs. It is truly a breathtaking place and for a moment you are able to image yourself in a unspoiled time. However, the falls natural beauty is tarnished by the huge amount of garbage that has floated down stream and became lodged under the falls. I don't know if the trash is regularly removed. I only hope that people who visit the falls see the mess they may well have contributed too, and decide to change they way they produce and dispose of waste.
