HTX, a cryptocurrency exchange headquartered out of Hong Kong, reported on Monday that it had suffered an estimated $86.6 million loss from a breach that happened in July.

The business stated the “unauthorized access” occurred on July 3, when hackers took about 2 billion HTX coins or 4 percent of its entire supply. The attack was originally identified by security company CipherTrace and then validated by third-party forensic investigators.

In a statement made on Tuesday, HTX said it is collaborating with law enforcement authorities to investigate the event and identify individuals responsible for the assault.

In addition to reimbursing consumers who lost assets during the theft, HTX stated it has also extended its services to new clients who were harmed by the incident.

The Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange HTX sustained a loss of more than $86 million in its wallet owing to a breach.

HTX claimed in a statement that the business had uncovered a security incident on July 21, which resulted in the loss of roughly $86.6 million from its wallet.

The corporation has also acknowledged that it would refund consumers who lost their monies by reimbursing them for their losses at fair market value.
