What I Learned on LSD
One year ago, I took LSD for the first time. The experience was beautiful, humbling, hilarious, and monumental. Here are some of the thoughts, insights, and random non-sense I jotted down during my trip. Enjoy!
Be comfortable with uncertainty.
Life is the most powerful drug (pre-season nomination for the most DARE-approved insight someone's had on acid since 'nam).
Water is life juice.
I don't need complex ideas to live a happy life. Live simply.
Don't be afraid to reinvent pivotal parts about yourself and your habits. If for nothing else, just see what happens. You only experience what you experience at any given time--you never experience any salient alternatives. You'll never fully know what you're missing, so do not speculate. Be content with what you have.
When you inhale the joint, the smoke that leaves our sight could be the substance of someone else's dreams.
"Cole, can I watch you smoke?"
Take time to yourself to recoup.
Life is beautiful if you want her. Life is cold if you don't.
During so much of my life, I'm uncertain. So much of our time is spent trying to figure out what to do, ways in which we can be productive, etc. These answers rarely are readily available to us, and the uncertainty can be heavy. Be comfortable with this weight upon your shoulders, and for Pete's sake, enjoy yourself.
Everyone has a different perspective. Everyone started from a different spot than you--either more or less. Be respecting of this fact, and be sure to listen to hear someone elses voice before speaking.
When it may seem rational to go to bed for one person, it is also rational to stay up for another.
The party isn't over. We can still dance.
Spend more time taking care of yourself and your body and your mind. They're all lifelong friends.
You know what you've done, you know where you are in your journey. Follow yourself.
