LoveFriday - Garden of Love, where two rivers meet [The legend of Alcôa and Baça]
Here's another LoveFriday and today I'm sharing a thematic garden I've discovered recently - Garden of Love in Alcobaça.
It's a special place that reminds the immortal love of D. Pedro I and D. Inês de Castro, and that is placed in the confluence of two rivers, Alcôa and Baça.
The legend of Alcôa and Baça
Once upon a time there was a couple of lovers who loved each other madly. They were engaged and were going to marry, nothing could separate them.
She was called Baça and he Alcôa.
Both were very poor. One day, the boy was visited by a strange figure, which made him change his character and behavior. He became extremely ambitious and ended up to abandoning Baça. The girl had such a great disgust that she cried and cried, her tears formed a river.
Hearing this, the young man Alcôa felt into a terrible despair and, due to his remorse, he cried day and night to the point of creating a river of tears that murmured in the moonlighted nights: 'Baça, my love....Forgive me. I beg you to forgive me!'
The girl forgave him, and joined to Alcôa, disemboguing on the left side, wich is the side of the heart.
It is said that on certain nights their passionate whispers can still be heard in the river.
Here's a short video of the place!
The Garden of Love has some thematic attractions:
- The vault of love
Small compartments built in the river Baça wall which store messages of love. The kit to each safe can be purchases at local shops.
- Thrones of Pedro and Inês
The royal thrones symbolize the immortal love of Pedro and Inês.
If you notice the photo, there is a couple (it might be just friends, I don't know) playing in the garden along with their dog, I found it so sweet!!
-The Love benches
Hope this can get you inspired to look for love in your daily life and share some positivity with us!!
In a world were sad stories are pumping everywhere we turn, it's even more precious to find love gestures/stories.
I've launched the 'Love Friday' challenge which the main purpose is to put us (me) paying more attention to love around us and share it on a weekly basis.
I know it's not easy, I know!! But that's the challenge!
