A quickie after dropping our kids off with the grandparents!
When you're married you have to get it in when you can! Tonight it just so happened to work out that all 4 of our kids are going to relatives for the night. Also, if you're married, you know this didn't really happen by chance. We had to work it out. SO, WHAT'S THE FIRST THING WE DO WITHOUT OUR KIDS???
Eat out at our favorite restaurant. Naturally. (If we would have been home, instead of downtown, we would have been doing a different kind of eating out.. If you know what I mean 😉)
A meal in a restaurant without the kids is a treat! No matter how chill it is. We don't have to share a single fry with anyone. We don't have to worry about a spilled drink or tantrum.
Barnaby's is our go to. We used to live walking distance and it was a weekly meal for us. These days its a 40 mile treck for us, so we go as often as we can when we are in Montrose. For those of you who are not from Houston, Montrose is near midtown and it is the very eclectic, gay bar, dive bar, late night eatery part of town. It is where @xtrodinarypilot and I reconnected and where we feel most at home. It is also home to Lola, our favorite bar that we went to on our anniversary night. You can see that adventure on @xtrodinarypilot's blog. But sadly, we had to move to the suburbs for a more family centric environment.. And a backyard.
Everything on the menu is delicious!!
Fries are soooooo good. Burgers are made from certified Akaushi Japanese beef. Salads are big enough to split. Which is exactly what we did. We split the Chicken Fatoush Salad and a Mushroom Swiss Burger. And a nice white wine to start off the night.

The decor is DOG! The owners are a gay couple who dedicated their restaurant to their childhood pet, Barnaby.
They have toys for the kids to play with. You may also buy one of the Bots.
One of my favorite things is the mouthwash despenser in the restroom! Classy. Lol
When we dont have our kids we try to be spontaneous and just enjoy each other's company. So stick around and look out for whatever trouble we may get into tonight!!! There's no telling with @xtrodinarypilot and @xtdnrymompreneur!! We crazy like that!!!

STOPBeing a parent I can relate. When we first got married my hubby and I worked opposite shifts, one on 8 hr rotations, the other on 12 hour. We had one weekend together every three months. Favorite comment was "how did you manage to have kids?"
... nice click-bait title - worked on me ;-) I agree its good for the relationship to get some quality time with your partner - it keeps us parents partially sane!
We really have to make the time otherwise it is put on the back burner. We are just now leaening to make it a priority.
We seriously need a date. These kids are CRAZY... my poor wife. I don't know how she does it.
Man it is tough without a support system. I do not talk to any of my family so we rely on my husbands family to watch the kids. It takes a bit of planning but its so worth it and MUCH NEEDED!!!! Do it for your sanity!! Even if it isnt the whole night, just a few hours to have adult conversation. Surprise your wife, she will love it!
