Afraid of You

When I saw you I was afraid to meet you.
When I met you I was afraid to kiss you.
When I kissed you I was afraid to love you.
Now that I love you, I am afraid to lose you.

My fears are justified.
I have loved before and lost.
I have experienced life and mourned death.

I have felt the tender touch of trust on my very soul
and watched it walk out the door with another.
So yes I am afraid.
I am afraid that I will miss the most beautiful love of my life
if I keep being afraid of you.
