Love 101: My EX was very materialistic, how do I know if the new girl I'm dating likes me for me?

Many men I know have reservations about dating and knowing if that girl, likes them for them.

The kind of woman that will respect and care for them just as they are, without their bank account being the deciding factor. It can be difficult for sure, but here are a few insights that may help you find out sooner rather than later, about your prospects.

If she is really interested, she will be more than happy to spend time wherever, doing whatever with you. A walk on a beach or an ice cream on a hot summer night with great conversation are awesome dates. It's the company and time that matters.

Here are some things to be aware of:

Don't Flaunt. Take your date to a nice but not overly fancy location. If you love the food or the atmosphere, tell her. If she is open and it just looking forward to spending time with you that is a good sign.

Depth of Conversation. This can be a telling feature. If someone is really getting to know you, enjoys your company and is having fun, they should be happy to be with you. Not what you can buy for them and what expensive places you can take them. Be wary if the conversation always defaults to money or things they want. Questions like what was the most expensive gift you'd every given?, what gifts did you buy your ex?

Listen to what she is really saying. Does she ask you about your interests, seem to want to participate in them also? Is she open about new experiences and ways of looking at the world? Can you both talk about a range of topics and not feel bored? If after a few conversations she is very engaged, open and happy, that is a good sign.
