Things that Make my Life Complete (Post 2) Gem

Gem has been my rock for many years. We met 8 years ago and have been with one another ever since. We are both eachother's support in this crazy world we live in.

It was Gem who first approached me online. We began chatting about my cat and what it is like in Cardiff. We knew after the first day that there was a big something and we must meet. Gem bought a train ticket to come see me in two weeks.
We Skyped everyday. We felt like we had known each other for years.

I met her off the station with a red balloon. I had painted a cute emoji on it. I was so excited my hug almost knocked her over. She was taller than me by a few inches. The first thing I noticed was her loose curled honey coloured hair that trailed all the way down to her hips. It made her look angelic. We were both very nervous. it was the first time she had travelled this far to meet any body. She had travelled from the other side of Wales in Aberystwyth to meet me in Cardiff. We went for coffee and she gave me a gift which had a poem and a pocket watch. She had written the poem about my blue eyes, it was really cute.

We met on the weekend of Halloween so we had planned to go to a party in the city whch was fun. Gem went as a Masked Highway Woman and I went as the Silent Hill Nurse. We made it official that we were in a relationship on just the second day of meeting. She would have to leave in a day or so as she had University and so did I. Gem was in the middle of studying for an Earth Science Degree and I was doing a PGCE.

I could write a very long book about the next few years but instead I will leave you with a few pictures of our best times.

Finally in Britain Gay Marriage was officially made legal. Many more people were coming out. We did not have to be afraid fo showing our affection in public. Gemma prosoped to me in Bute Park in Cardiff beneath a beautiful crimson maple tree. I said yes.


We got married in Cardiff Castle. Many things were hand made or were things we helped to make. It kept costs down and it felt like "us".

Two years onwards, several moves into different flats and of course still with our cat Leon we look into 2018 eager to see what it has in store for us.
