Explore a Museum

For a cultured experience, take your date to a museum. There are all sorts you can go to, with interesting exhibits ranging from everything like Egyptian, dinosaur, and air and space. Museums are great because you get to learn cool stuff about, well, cool stuff. Plus, you automatically feel kind of special and sophisticated going inside a museum, almost like your IQ just went up 20 points.

Take your date back in time and look at what American History has to offer, or visit some world history museum and learn more about ancient civilizations. It works well as a group activity or with just the two of you, and it is a perfect first date idea. It may not be the most active thing to do, but it is definitely worth going. Some museums are free, and while others may have an admission price, it’s usually a nominal fee, similar to the price of a movie ticket for some, while others are in the 20-dollar range. Washington D.C. has some spectacular museums, same with San Francisco—in general, large cities will almost surely have a museum of some kind. And while you’re in museum mode, why not follow up the experience by sitting down and watching Night at the Museum? Ben Stiller is a perfect way to cap off the day.

Just like a lot of activities, all you need is a time and place to go. Reservations are usually not required.

My experience with this date:

I have been to many different kinds of museums, from the Dinosaur Museum in Utah, to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. I recently took a date to the Arizona Science Center; they had a murder mystery activity going on with a High School Reunion, 80’s themed. Most of the patrons came dressed in their best 80’s attire, so you know how totally radical it was. There was a crime scene to explore, clues to discover, fingerprint analysis, handwriting analysis, blood splatter analysis, not to mention all the normal exhibits the center had to offer.

There was a break out session as well, where the head of the forensics department of one of the local colleges spoke to us about the impact TV shows like CSI and Bones have on real life injuries. It was a fascinating topic for sure. After reviewing all of the clues brilliantly, my date and I deduced whom the murderer was. A great first date!
