Why celebrate Valentine?
14th of February is set aside globally to celebrate "Love" the biggest gift of God to mankind.
Apparently, some people are yet to come to terms with this celebration and it's global significance to mankind.
BRIEF HISTORY OF VALENTINE'S DAY
While under house arrest of Judge Asterius, and discussing his faith with him, Valentinus (the Latin version of his name) was discussing the validity of Jesus. The judge put Valentinus to the test and brought before him the judge's adopted blind daughter.
Asterius promised to do whatever Valentinus would ask for if he succeeded in restoring the girl's sight.
Valentinus laid his hands on her eyes and the child's vision was restored. Immediately humbled, the judge asked Valentinus what he should do.
Valentine's replied that all of the idols around the Judge's house be broken and the Judge should fast for three days and later undergo baptism.
The Judge obeyed and later decided to freed all Christian inmates under his authority.
The Judge and his Forty-four household member were baptized.
Valentinus was later arrested again for continuing to proselytize and was sent to the prefect of Rome, to the emperor Claudius Gothicus (Claudius II) himself.
Claudius liked Valentine's until he convinced Claudius to embrace Christianity.
Claudius refused and condemned Valentinus to renounce his faith or face death penalty by beheading.
Valentinus refused Claudius' command and was executed outside Flaminian gate on 14th of February, 269.
Valentine was also believed to be a priest who helped Christian couples who were in love with each other to secretly get married and was hence, beheaded by Emperor Claudius II. The emperor had prohibited men from getting married as he thought single men made for more dedicated and better soldiers. Valentine was against this idea and would therefore, facilitate their weddings.
St. Valentine promoted the concept of "Love" and was beheaded on the 14th of February thus, the date for the celebration.
Love shouldn't be celebrated just on the 14th of February or only on Valentine's day. It's a global language that needed to be discussed and celebrated everyday of our lives.
Love is patient, love is kind, love is humble all of the time, love is not easily angered, love endures the test, love ❤️ is unconditional, because love is excellence, love drives away fear, if you have love, you have everything. May this kind of love become your portion today and always, from my heart to yours...Happy Valentine’s day ♥️🥂
