in #love6 years ago (edited)

I would love to start this article by taking time out to render my honest apologies to all my readers and followers especially of marriage dairy. I know its a weekend edition, but circumstances beyond my power made it so.

spent all my Sunday in Jehovah's house, for he is the very reason of my existence, secondly I caught a cold, serious one that left me devasted, I slept by 8pm and found myself awake by 5pm, when I said I would be up by 11pm, well Jehovah leads, I thank him for safety in my sleep.

I thank you all for forgiving me!

We will look at a very different angle today, perhaps that many family have never been successful with. Illness
This time not just any illness but terminal illness.

Terminal illness can be said to be a condition that leaves the patient incapacitated or perhaps in delima with slim or no hope of getting back to normal.

To illustrate:
People in the community was shocked my peter 50 was diagnosed with acutely aggressive brain tumor, doctors said he has only few months to live.

Cherry said "I felt numb for weeks, I couldn't believe this, it was as if it was happening to some other people and not us, she recalled " I was not ready".

Christy, 30 was diagnosed with cancer (not specific) doctors said she has few months to live. John couldn't believe what he was hearing. "I can't do this on my own the kids, he broke down in tears in front of the doctor.

Sadly, we might have known people who reacted same in their situations especially like this, it is not easy to deal with.

A terminal disease can affect anybody anywhere and anytime.

Many families have taken the initiative to care for a lived one afflicted with such terminal disease. however, what could families do in such situation, care giving could be a mountainous challenge. How could they over come this challenge?

How To cope
It is true that giving someone few time on earth could be troubling, however there are a few things we can do to assist.

Consider your options
Medical science has moved way up, that unlike few years back people could die earlier from diesaese. Presently, medical advancement has pushed some kind of deaths away from the hospital, you might want to consider options that can help your loved one stay longer, should in case there are no final cure for them.

Always Plan
Most of the issues that leads to the death of someone terminally Ill is lack of planning. There is always fear associated with the diagnosis, anxiety, grief and confusion.
Someone asked for help in accident Isreal.

Teach me how to number our days so that we may acquire a wise heart (psalm 90:12)

Prayer is powerful institutions like this. Ask for help so the remaining days of your loved one might be filled with wisdom and happiness. You could have wisdom to assist any way you can.

So if your lo end one can commicate with you, find out, who may be able to take decisions for him when he can't, or won't be able to. Find out if he wants to be hospitalized or want to submit to certain treatment or not. Proper consultation especially when its early enough could afford you time to take care of him when it gets worse.

Remember Your Role
Your most important job is to provide comfort. A dying patient needs love always, he needs to know that he us not alone and always loved. Hence, read with them, sing with them, enjoy the time with up building words, comments and stories. Many people feel comforted when someone they love hold them and console them.

Becareful with the things you say in their presence, one report says "hearing is the last sense of the five sense to be lost" hence becareful what you say when they are asleep, dont say what you can't tell them in their presence in their sleep. Identify those who visits. You can also pray together.

Face Reality
Dont fake it. Its sad, very sad to know someone could die in your arms. I understand that to think of a loved one dying is paining, because we were never built to die. However, visualize what may occur, take time to sometimes know his he might die, so it won't be so shocking.
When you lost a loved one, its also wise to contact a close friend who also really wanted to help. Sometimes we need to know that his suffering are over.

What could happen to a Terminal patient in his final weeks of life?

Little interest in eating drinking, sometimes placing a moist washcloth in his forehead could help.

Desire to be alone: always keep the environment calm and homely.

Spend more time in sleep

They are relentless, dont stop them, always speak kindly to them.

Disoriented mostimes: always identify your name, and listen to them even if they sound confused.

Incontinence occurs, but work hard to keep every where neat.

Changes in breath: when they moan it may be exhalation, please be sure before panicking.

They could experience congestion: always raised the head with pillow, it can help avoid gaggling.

Change in skin colour: it can result from direction of flow of blood to the core of vital organs.

Remain Strong

Rely upon your God. He is a wonderful caregiver and protector. You have done your part, please note that only caring at these times of trouble is enough reason to be joyful. Some never had an opportunity. When he finally leaves, say a prayer and thank God for everything.

Always remember the hope of resurrection, you can see him again, as stated in Revelation 21:3,4

He will wipe oout all tears from our eyes, and death will be no more, no morning, no outcry shall be.
Yes! Be hopeful, and never give up in doing what is fine, better still love someone #backtolife-project.
