There may be the loudest, most obnoxious, boisterous screaming in your head shouting the most hurtful, vile, insults at you like darts to a balloon...🎈
You may feel like you've completely fallen off course and now you're alone in this world, misunderstood, confused and entirely unsure of your purpose. 🤷♀️
You may feel that every day is just a blurred, black, blank that got you from point A to point B. 😵
There ARE days where these feelings creep in, wrestling with your consciousness and wreaking havoc on your mindset, trickling problems into your thoughts with no sign of stopping! 😱
I just want to tell you that you're normal for feeling these ways. We often SHAME what we consider "negative" emotions and we tell each other to hide them away like dirty gym socks, under the bed. 🧦
The problem with that is, although it's great that they're currently out of sight and therefore likely, out of mind... Eventually the odor is going to start taking over the oxygen in your room and you're going to be hit in the face with the stench you tried to avoid! 🤢
Here's a beautiful exercise that allows you to feel out the emotions you are carrying with you, while giving you a pump up to feeling better! 🙋
✨ Identify the feeling.
Ex: I am feeling "sad."
✨ Recognize why you're feeling that way.
Ex. I'm feeling sad because I am laid off and don't know what to do with my life.
✨ From the problem, find the solution.
Ex. I'm feeling sad because I'm laid off and don't know what to do with my life. Maybe with this time off I can hone in and make moves to decide what I'd like to do next! If I didn't have this time off, I probably wouldn't have time to figure out what I want to really do with my life!
✨ Be grateful for your new solution!
Ex. I'm grateful to have this time off so I can find my passion and give myself some more meaning in my life!
💚 When we are able to recognize a feeling we have but turn that feeling around into a positive for us and then go even further by being grateful for it, the whole emotional response changes and it's a very positive experience! 💚
(Sometimes it's not easy but putting in the effort will encourage your brain to try to see the light at the end of the tunnel!)
