A Look Backward

Recently we passed through the town where I grew up, on the way to our next location. We had a few things to drop off to family members, and a couple of things to pick up.

When we stopped by my parents house, they had a box filled with all kinds of my stuff. Some work stuff. Some high school stuff. Some college stuff. The box also had some random stuff like a nice watch and some pictures.

I wasn't sure exactly what the pictures could be, I was a bit wild when I was younger so it could have been anything. Nothing too illegal, but maybe a shot of me mooning passing traffic haha.

As I was flipping through the pictures I found a couple of gems. I found pictures of the day of my first bad car accident. It was a bit of a shock to see the messed up truck again, but I also found a couple of other fun pictures of Stacie D (@freedomtowrite) and I when we were 18 and 19!! Crap that was 18 years ago...we were babies.

So my first bad accident happened when I was on my way to work. It wasn't my first, but my first bad one. I was on the way to work early in the morning and it was snowing. I slid off of the road, into a ditch, hit a tree head on, and then flipped the truck over.

I can remember that Stacie D was so made. She was a senior in high school and no one told her about my accident until after she got out. I'm sure if someone had told her earlier, she would have just left and came to see me. I can picture it now....Stacie D jumping up and leaving and not saying anything to anyone, just gone haha.

I knew I loved her long before I told her. She has been "ride or die" since before I even knew how amazing of a thing that was. At the time of this accident I was already making payments on an engagement ring, and I went on to propose to her after she graduated a few months later.

We have since been on many adventures together, and seen some things. We are currently starting the latest adventure and "bugging out". It is wild adventures of all sizes that weave together the tapestry that is our journey.
