Fall in love with a friend
Yesterday was busy for me as a friend got married and I had to attend it... In another state.
David is one of those people who wants to see me well and excelling. He tries to help when he can, he prays for me, he teaches me and he looks out for me. So I had to attend his wedding.

It was a lovely experience and it got me thinking about marriage and its relationship to friendship.
Yesterday was not just his wedding, it was also his birthday, and so after the celebration his wife made a birthday post for him and she didn't make the proclamation that he was now her husband, instead she called him her forever friend.
It got me thinking.
The best relationship is that of friendship. In a marriage relationship, if friendship is not the foundation, it will get harder to go on when the apparent romance is giving way to harsh reality. It's friendship that makes you still say 'please' and 'thank you' to someone whose all bad side is obvious to you, it is friendship that keeps you kind towards your spouse even when they annoy you, it is friendship that makes you care for them even when you don't like them.
Your friend is someone you love with or without romance. You gat the person's back come rain or shine, you will go through hell or high water to help the person. Now imagine if this is done by everyone for his or her spouse... Marriages will last forever!
One mistake humans do is to use fake acts to represent romance. Romance is kindness, care, affection, honesty and loyalty. It is not just candlelit dinners or sex through the night that many have defined it to be.
Romance is me taking food to my man BECAUSE I know he'll be hungry but won't stop to eat as he gets carried away with work. Or my man looking at himself and deciding he'd RATHER let the cold bite him than me and so he gives me his jacket.
Romance is kindness.
The above scenarios look and sound romantic but when emptied of their right motives, they become a plan for getting something. When they are not kind gestures, they are empty moves.
It's easy to be kind to a friend.
Fall in love with a friend and not a stranger, it will be easier to sustain.
