"The Missing Rib" -- A Lesson About Eternal Love, Regret & Guilt !

Love is the emotion, only a few can understand and fewer can get in their whole life. Love is not something to play with, it is actually the hardest thing you can ever achieve. There are a lot of  facts and myths about the true love. Everyone have their own opinions about love. Some calls it a weakness while other calls it the very strength which fuel our soul. Now this article is not about the argument between strength and weakness of love, rather it about a short lesson based on the story of real life couple.

So without further ado, lets talk about it. 

A girl in love asked her lover: “Tell me, who do you love the most in your whole world?”

“You, of course. I love you with all my heart and soul!”

“In your heart, what am I to you?”

The boy took a moment and looked deeply in her eyes and said, “You are my rib."

In the Bible, it was said that God saw that Adam was lonely. During his sleep, God took one of Adam’s rib and created Eve. From that moment, every man is searching for that missing that rib in his whole life. Some gets it while others don't. Only when you find the love of your life, the heartache you always felt will be subdued”

Having heard this, girl got very happy and they got married after sometime. After their wedding, they had a happy life for a while. However, the youthful couple began to get apart due to the tiring schedule and the never-ending daily problems. Their life became sad. With each life challenge, they began to loose interest in each other. They began to have quarrels, and each quarrel became more furious. One day, after a furious quarrel, the girl ran out of the house and shouted loudly,“You don’t love me!”

The boy hated her childish behavior and out of anger he replied, “Maybe it was a mistake for us to be together! We  were never meant to be together and you were never my missing rib!”

Suddenly, the girl got quiet and stood where she was, for a while. He regretted what he said, but like a charged arrow the words can't be taken back. With tears, she went home and packed her things only to get out of his home and breaking up with him.

Before she left, she said something while she was crying, “If I’m really not your missing rib, then please let me go. It is less painful this way. I am also letting you go so that you can find your missing rib again and this time the 'right' one."

Five years went by, the boy never remarried and always thought about the mistake that he had done furiously. Every single day he thought about that mistake and felt guilty for himself. On other hand, the girl married a foreigner and divorced. Time passed, and one day they met again, on the airport.

She was standing alone with just a glass security door between them. She smiled at him gently.

“How are you?”, the boy asked.

“I’m fine. How about you ? Have you found your missing rib yet or still alone?”, the girl asked.

“No, I haven't.", the boy replied.

“I’ll be flying to New York on the next flight.”, the girl said.

“I’ll also be back in 2 weeks time as I have to Dubai urgently for some business work.", the boy replied.

“Call me when you get back. My number hasn't changed. It is the same.”, the girl said.

With a smile, she left after waiving a goodbye. One week later, he unfortunately heard about her death. She had passed away in New York, in the event that shocked the world. On midnight, the boy lit his cigarette like he does before, only to realize again the unshaky heartache still lingering through his veins. He finally knew that she was the missing rib that he had so carelessly broken.

Unfortunate things happen each day and life is always full of problems and miseries. It doesn't mean that we should distance ourselves from those we love. Love is the most beautiful thing in this world, actually it is the base of all luxuries a human wanted in his whole life. 

Treasure each moment with the person you love, May be Tomorrow never happen and you won't even get a chance to say goodbye to them. Life is short, keep loving and keep living with the people you love.
