How to cure a case of the Mondays

in #love7 years ago

My wife and I both had really shitty days at work in corporate america today. After a fun weekend it was disappointing enough to go back to work and reality in the first place but today was outright horrendous on all counts for reasons I won't go into. But we made the best of it after we got home by spending time together doing something we both love...acro yoga

It's a bit different than regular yoga and involves trust in your partner, especially if you're the one on top (the flyer). It can also hurt when the flyer falls on the person on bottom (the base) but it's definitely more comfortable and less scary being the one on the floor. I'm usually the base but my wife can do some of the poses with me on top as shown below.

We've been doing this for a few years now but not very often as the more difficult poses where the flyer is inverted are dangerous and require a third and sometimes even a fourth person to spot / catch the flyer if they fall. These are relatively basic poses in terms of acro yoga. Below are a couple more pics of us. The pic below was taken today.

This one came up on my facebook time hop and was taken Five years ago this week when we'd first started dating.

We don't look much different five years later in my opinion. I have my yoga practice and running to thank for keeping me looking relatively young. My wife gets more beautiful every year (she's 8 years younger than me).

If anyone is interested in learning more about acro yoga here's a link to some basic stuff. If you do decide to try it, try to find a class so you are less likely to get injured.

This first link is to more basic stuff that a person in decent shape can do with a qualified instructor.

This next has some amazing stuff that even my wife and I can't do most of. It's fun to look through the pics though.

Hope you all had a decent Monday! Buy even if your work day sucked you can still make the last part of the day awesome.

Nice! You two got some flexibility :D

In yoga and acrobatics it's all about mobility, the ability to move within extreme ranges of motion.

She does more so than me but I'm a man so I think I get a bit of a handicap lol. My wife is a borderline contortionist. And Thanks :)

wonderful blog, I upvoted you and followed you

Thank you very much! I appreciate it. I will check out your blog when I get a bit more time. Trying to catch up on comments while I'm on a break at work. Have a great day!

How I wish we could catch a case of the mondays like you guys! Absolutely breathtaking

Thanks, you are very kind. I feel pretty lucky to have an outlet like this that I can share with the love of my life.

We are happy to read from you, hopefully more people can be inspired to do such fun workouts with their loved ones

😊thanks. It made my day to read these comments.

Now that is a great way to handle the blahs. I don't really wake up to fret working on Mondays or any day, really. But I like the way you set the example.

By changing your body posture, you change the way you think and feel. That is a very conscious, mindful thing to do when things don't go so well for a day.

I don't always handle stress or things beyond my control very well. Thankfully this day I did. I totally agree with you about changing one's posture and mindset to let go of any negativity. It's something I constantly strive for but often fail at. But hey, I don't want to be perfect, just happy most of the time.

Thank you for your kind words :)

Cool, this is the stuff you see at Cirque de Soleil!

Funny you mention Cirque...that's a life goal of my wife to be in Cirque du Soleil.

Looks great and fun. I have been doing yoga since the past 4 years but somehow find it difficult to build a habit of it. Going to work on it again soon enough.

It's so great to have a physical hobby you can practice together like this. Did you two meet in a yoga studio?
