While each of these events deserve the deeply cathartic process of writing a full post, it is the big picture of putting these parts to an overarching whole that offers the lesson for me in 2019. Each challenge taught me to look a little deeper within myself, and stretch a little more outside of the possible, to learn HOW to
Make Magic from the Mess
The crests and valleys of a medical roller coaster taught me how
to ask more questions
and find the answers
for myself
The mending of a fractured family taught me how
to create space
and balance
for every member’s needs
The selling of a home, and the finding of a new one, taught me how
to define values
and prioritize
the essential
The reduction of our means taught me how
to live in harmony with our environment
and make the most of
every resource
The planning of a new path taught me how
to value the present
and the gift of understanding
impermanence
It is because of these messes that we are here, in this magical, cozy place, growing as individuals and bonding as a family. No matter what the mess, we can learn how to make it magic.
I am grateful to find a place with rich soil to grow a community. May we take root, and flourish together.
