Love: Real vs. Fake

A few days ago I was asked, "What is true love and am I capable of it? How do I discern what’s real (read: authentic) and what’s not?" The following blog will shine my perspective on the question.

There is no such thing as “fake love.” Love is love. It cannot be fake. If you feel like love is fake then you are either experiencing something other than love or you are experiencing constraints placed on love. Constraints result from conditioning and conditioning effects your perception of love. The most common “love battle” people engage in is the one between the voice of subconscious conditioning, and the voice of “pure love” that effortlessly flows through you. Spoiler alert! Love always wins.

You are, and have always been capable of love. Like an aspen tree, you are a small part of a larger organism, connected by an extensive root system of loving consciousness. The confusion you are most likely experiencing does not come from “love,” it comes from conditioning.

Any time a rule is placed on love, it limits the flow. Rules might sound like, “I will only love you if ____” or “I only feel loved when ____.” Both of these statements are limiting beliefs. Who is benefiting from limiting the love you put out into the world?

If love is love, then what is not love? Trading is not love. Asking for something in return for love is not love. This is a business transaction. Do not treat love like a business transaction. Love is meant to be given. If love is held onto for too long, it becomes loneliness. Recognize that love can be given in so many ways. There are different kinds of love, like the love you feel for a family member, friend, stranger, or romantic partner. They all have a different hue.

“So where is the love I desperately desire?” You may be screaming… Well, just like an Aspen tree, the root system may lie dormant for many years until the conditions are just right, then with sufficient sunlight, your love will sprout. Your love will grow.

Back to present tense. Just because your love hasn’t sprouted above the ground, do not pretend it is not there. That would be disempowering, and downright foolish. Instead, understand that it is your mission to build a system of roots that are so strong that the foundation you set now can fully nourish any flower to blossom or any tree to sprout. Dig deep friends. Build your intricate system of roots so that you too will be ready for the one when he/she or the combination may come.
