夜空繁星 Starry Starry Night
Camping is a popular activity in Australia. It is a very good way to get intimate with the Great Outdoors. For me, one of the best thing about camping is the beautiful night sky. Far away from the city lights, so many more stars can be seen in the sky, sparkling and twinkling. Staying on a flat camp ground also means that you get an almost unobstructed view of these beautiful stars.
露营在澳洲是个非常受欢迎的活动。在荒芜的郊野生火野炊，席地而眠，充份的与大自然亲密接触。对我而言，露营最大的好处就是可以远离城市的灯火，仰望繁星，欣赏夜空中闪烁着的宝石。
The most recognizable stars in the summer sky is the constellation Orion. Three bright stars closely spaced in a straight line forms the Orion belt, while a bright blurry patch further up on Orion’s sword is the Orion nebula, one of the few nebulae that is visible by the naked eye. Following the Orion belt south, on Evan dins Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. The Pleiades a group of seven bright stars that is located northwest of Orion, is also easy to find. The star cluster actually consist of many more stars that were formed in the last 100 million years, which is recent by galactic standards.
在南半球夏天夜空中辨识度最高的是猎户星座 (Orion)。三颗近距离连成直线的亮星就是猎户的腰带，而腰带上方模糊不清的猎户星云。这颗猎户佩剑上的宝石是天上为数不多可以用肉眼看见的星云之一。顺着猎户腰带往南，就可以找到全天最亮的天狼星(Sirius)。而在猎户座的西北方则可以看见大约七颗亮星组成的七姊妹星团 (Pleiades)。这个星团其实是很多刚形成的恒星所组成。
The milky way can be found towards the southern sky in summer time. Later in the night, if you are lucky, you would be able to see two cloud like patches, further south of the Milky Way. They are the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) and the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), and are actually two satellite galaxies that is not part of the Milky way.
在夏天的夜空中，银河的位置通常偏南。在银河的南方可以看见两团像云的物体。这是大麦哲伦星云 (LMC) 和小麦哲伦星云 (SMC)，是两个银河系外的小星系。他们是绕着银河系的卫星星系。
The night sky is so fascinating, it is really telling us the story of the universe. Next time you are outside the city on a clear night, remember to look up! You will be amazed at what you could see!

Nice post @stabilowl , the LMC and SMC really are outstanding features from Australia, so long as you have a dark sky! Where were you camping if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks! We were camping at Kangaroo Valley which is about 2 hours south of Sydney, west of Shoalhaven. It is a busy camp site.
That's what I was going to ask. My husband loves camping but hasn't been for a while since we have young kids. He's trying to get back to into it so I'll let him know of this campsite.
Not too friendly for young kids though, it's a river camp, and the river is quite deep so not really for young kids.

我以前特别喜欢开着Google earth的app，对着天空，识别各个星座。现在国内的大城市，几乎看不到星空了呢。12年去云南、西藏玩的时候，曾经拍下好看的星空给妈妈看，她超级开心的

hey where do you normally go for camping? my other half can't wait to get out there with the boys when they grow up (and i am not looking forward to it) lol
We normally camp at home lol. We have been to camping twice only since we bought our tent 2 years ago. The picture here is from Kangaroo Valley, which is not very child friendly as it is by a river that is quite deep. The other place we went to was Bonnie Vale which is at Bundeena at Royal National Park. That is a nicer camp as it is quieter and is next to the beach. You need to book ahead though.
