The building of the National Assembly in Belgrade/Zgrada Narodne skupštine u Beogradu

Construction Parliament building lasted for very long, almost 30 years. On August 27, 1907, King Petar I Karađorđević laid the foundation stone, but the construction was interrupted by the outbreak of the First World War. The continuation of the works did not begin immediately after the end of the war, so the building was only finished in 1936, and the first session of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in this building was held on October 21, 1936. The building of the parliament was designed by the architect Jovan Ilkić, who died in 1917, without waiting for the completion of the construction.
