Shift Change Yangon Myanmar
At dusk in Yangon Myanmar, the shifts are changing. Some people are off from their work day and others are just starting. I was taking this photo for the parade of green carts you can see coming at the right of the frame.
My taxi had passed a market and these are rolling vendors with some kind of food, coming to set up for the night. Passing them are other workers on their way home who already have their food. The family in front are people I wish I had met.
Everything about this photo says Yangon to me.
Complicating this shot is that I am hanging out the window of a speeding taxi that is making a hard right turn away from this scene. We are driving near the Shwedagon Pagoda which is a region of chaos on the roads. I am on an hour long detour from Downtown Yangon to the airport for my flight that leaves in four hours.
Since I had the time, I asked my driver to take us the slow way through something more interesting than rush hour traffic on the main road. He found a wonderful route and did his best to point things out and slow for me but also had to stay in the flow of traffic.
