Uber doing too much; are they losing their niche?

Uber has changed the way we view transportation, however are they reaching to far outside their wheel house with freight? Recently, they announced their App-Based Freight Platform. Brilliant idea for drivers and smaller businesses. The greatest benefit will be for the drivers and overall saving for smaller companies. The app is very similar to what most consumers use. Independent drivers can pick loads at their leisure and get paid directly.

Will this app replace 3pls or reaching out to carriers directly, I doubt it.

However, I think this will give more options to drivers and local business that are just starting out. Most 3rd party logistics companies can create apps for shippers and compete in that matter, but larger companies with more complex needs will not benefit from this concept.

Check the articles below and let me know what you think?

Will Lyft join? Will this idea flop? Or will this be the next big push into the future?
