This post is being linked with the latest @livesustainability contest – Don’t Buy It.

There are so many ways in which we can improve your household shopping to help the environment without all out make your own and nothing else will ever do. Because that’s not feasible for some people. I literally put myself down because I’m not plastic free yet and I hate myself for it.

Releasing this, I thought there must be other people who feel the same. As it is hard to only use home made items, avoiding plastic, no paper, no palm oil, no silicone the list is endless.

A way to palisade myself and make me feel better for not achieving these goals yet. I make a conscious effort where and what everyday household products I do buy.

Such as buying
Recycled Toilet Roll
Recycled Kitchen Roll
Eco Friendly Washing Up Liquid
Eco Friendly Dishwasher Tablets
Eco Friendly Detergent and Fabric Conditioner
Chemical Free Shampoo/Conditioner
Animal and Eco Friendly Make up & Nail Varnish

By making these conscious decisions we are helping the environment by ensuring no bad chemicals are entered by us into the water sources and land. The packing send is recyclable such as the wrapping on the kitchen roll.

But my best purchase which was on top of my usual shopping and is my entry for this weeks contest is my new string bag.

I have a massive bugbear with plastic wrapping on veg, and once again I had to resort to buying carrots in a bag. Whether that be the bag they arrive in at the Supermarket or the little plastic bags they give you for individual veg.

Enough is Enough

I’ve invested £3 into this bag to carry all my loose veg in, the cashier can see the veg, she can weight it not a problem.

I do not have to buy prepacked plastic vegetables again!

Sort:

I always buy loose veg and enjoy watching till operator manhandling them all ;)

Hello @pumpkinsandcats ... I do find it annoying to have to buy organic food wrapped in plastic... I understand why they want to 'separate' organic vs non-organic, but it defeats the original purpose.
Luckily, @pennsif plants quite a bit of vege to deal with that...

I'd love to have the space to grow enough.

It really drives me mad. I'd love to walk around the supermarket and veg be free!
