Taking Responsibility - Its Up to Me to Live Sustainably
Taking responsibility means understanding that this is not your land, you are simply a steward of it.
It means that you don't blame society, government, corporations, depression, the medical system, the food system, or even your mother for the mistakes and harms you have done to Our Mother.
Taking responsibility means that no matter how well you do things you acknowledge that there are always ways to do better.
Taking responsibility means knowing that a healthy you is the best gift you can give our environment.
Being responsible means knowing you are not perfect, and doing as well as you can. It means staying out of the all or nothing trap. It means planting seeds in your children about future ways, and alternate ways, even if you are "doing it wrong." Taking responsibility means that you respect enough to acknowledge your plastic using ways.
Being responsible means you dream up futures where sustainability is the only way.
In my household we are being responsible by watching our food. We live in a city, food waste is rampant. We aim to eat all the food in our fridge, before it goes "bad." We acknowledge that recycling is not as friendly as re-using, and that not using at all is the best way.
In my household, we take responsibility by using biodegradable everything-that-makes-it-down-our-drains while acknowledging that in the grand sense, our neighbors' habits affect us. We aim to lead by example without calling ourselves the example.
I love your last sentence...that's really poignant, and when you put it that way it's my approach too :)

Love this post. Taking responsibilities, we can even illustrate is as home. When one fail to do his/her responsibilities that person has failed to succeed in life.
