I read your post just before going grocery shopping, so I had low food milage in my head while shopping. As I look outside my window, all I see is snow and ice... These are the locally grown vegetables I found : potatoes, carrots, cabbage and onions. That was it! That's the extent of locally grown vegetables in the far north of Europe - at least at this time of year. :D
(oh, and there's locally grown tomatoes and lettuce even in wintertime, but their environmental impact is so detrimental we're not even going to mention them!)
