Is steemit a place to get the breaking news.?
I have not seen Steemit used for breaking news, if we could have a concept of hashtag on steemit yet, here for people to follow.It works well on twitter, even the reddit livestream feed is very helpful. Bottom line is , live events bring in a lot of users on to the platfrom, who otherwise wouldn't have.
With the current steemit functionality - we can just post it under a certain tag. What I have done is created a tag 'live' for this post.
It could be as simple as creating a story under live tag
- Live tag should be treated similar to the current 'trending' catetogory so users can see any live news breaking.
- Voting should around content, not just timing of the event. Post. I would hate someone make lots of money just for posting a link( . But anyone local in the affected area can provide valuable insight or in other words first hand reporting. On other media, they don't have a effective way of monetising it.
- This could start real discussion, commentary on live events.
- Live streaming also a possibility.
- It could bring a lot of users to steemit - around breaking stories news.
I think this could be a valuable feature on steemit. Something to ponder!
i personally don't view Steemit as a platform for breaking news -- Twitter is a great tool for that today and the fact that there's no Steemit mobile app limits its usefulness for that for now in my opinion. It could become that in the future though!
That's a good point, although I would like to see some sort of breaking news option on steemit (like the live stream on reddit), even if it's really simple
