Litti Chokha Recipe : Famous Indian Food | Traditional Dish Eaten Mainly in Bihar
Litti chokha is famous food from Bihar and is sure to delight you and your guests. You will relish every bite of this dish. Delicious balls of wheat flour with amazing stuffing will surely turn out to be everyone's favorite.
INGREDIENTS FOR LITTI DOUGH -
- Wheat Flour – 3 cup
- Water – As needed
- Oil – For frying
INGREDIENTS FOR LITTI FILLING - - Sattu – 2 cup
- Onion (finely chopped) – 1
- Green chillies (chopped) – 2
- Ginger (chopped) – 1 inch
- Garlic (chopped) – 6 to 8 cloves
- Coriander Leaves – chopped
- Ajwain – 1 Tsp
- Kalonji – 1 Tsp
- Mustard oil – 2 Tsp
- Salt – To taste
- Red Chilli Pickle masala – 1 Tbsp
- Mix Pickle Paste – 1 Tbsp
- Lemon Juice – 2 Tsp
Directions:
- Make a tight dough (same as for pooris) using wheat flour and water, and keep aside.
- Mix all ingredients of the filling in a bowl, to make it ready for the stuffing.
- Make a ball of the dough, and make a depression by holding it in between fingers and pressing with the thumb.
- Fill it with the stuffing mixture, bring the edges together to seal it and make round balls. Press it a little with your palm. Repeat the steps for all the littis.
- Heat oil in a pan, and put the dough balls on a low - medium flame. Keep them flipping from time to time.
- Do not overcrowd the oil, deep fry only 4-5 littis at a time, so that they get cooked well from the inside too.
- Take them out once they start turning golden brown. Littis are ready to be served.
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHOKHA -
- Grease the eggplant with mustard oil and roast well. Roast tomato in similar manner. Peel off the burnt layer of both, and keep aside.
- Make a tadka using mustard oil, ginger, green chillies, garlic and onion.
- Take a bowl, mash eggplant and tomato, mix with the tadka mixture and salt. Chokha is ready. Serve this with hot Littis and enjoy the flavours.
How to make Chokha for Litti :-

- Eggplant – 1
- Mustard oil – 2 Tsp
- Tomato – 1
- Green chillies (chopped) – 2
- Ginger (finely chopped) – 1 inch
- Onion (finely chopped) – 1
- Garlic (chopped) – 6 to 8 cloves
- Coriander Leaves – chopped
- Salt – To taste
How To Serve
Put Chokha in a bowl, dip hot Litti in melted Ghee, Litti can also be broken at the centre and then dipped. Serve with Chokha, green coriander chutney and eat..
