LitterWalk With MesteemCreated with Sketch.

Rest assured this will not be a long walk as it is spring cleaning for my backyard. To be honest it was a job well overdue. In fairness, though, most of the trash came from the traffic at the drive through ATM to the south of my property. If only those Tim Horton cup tops were redeemable... even just for a nickle! 😎

First order of business is supplies.

My dependable old rake deserves a shoutout too.

A quick look down at the job at hand.

The willow has shed a lot of branches over the winter

But it seems ready for new growth.

The Willow is not the only tree reaching for the canopy. Found this little fellow coming up from an old stump.

To give you an idea how the garbage just blows in like tumbleweeds, this next shot is the east boundary line with a small parking lot.

The fire pit seemed pretty trashed.

Still needs some finishing touches yet seems it is much improved.

Of course the real reward is the booty collected!

Thanks for the company on my #litterwalk!

Having two trees taken down today. One is just dying and lost one in a blizzard this year. Figure I will have some clean up! Both pines so not sure how many needles are under there. This could be a chore!

I hate litter. One of my pet peeves. Sorry you get stuck with it.

Maybe you could put a trash can in the drive thru lane?

Yard looks nice.

We have to take down a couple of maple trees on the south end of the property to get the south facing sunshine which was lost to the growing tree shade. It has been many years since having a garden and it would be nice to have one again.

Our trees are gone now. Came home to a naked backyard, two stumps and no shade. We really needed them for the back. :(
Have 3 birch in the front. Always thought they would go, not the pine!

I apologized to the birds and bunnies for destroying their homes. That makes me feel horrible.

Sounds like time to start that garden.

We shall have to take down a couple of maples. That will still leave 2 cherry trees a couple of maple and a willow with a hardy crows' nest. 😎

Thats the second blog I have read this morning about tidying up. Think we should take that as a sign to get off our asses. We definitely have a winter garden out there thankfully no blown in rubbish just weeds and rocks. Thanks for the Inspiration @lyndsaybowes and @novacadian 😎😎

So glad to inspire! Don't forget your #litterwalk and #walkwithme tags. 😎

Way cool! Thanks @deliberator!

Great! You've been entered into the homesteading challenge, thank you!

Thanl you!

Great work! Argh, so much litter, I can imagine, being next to a drive thru! 😵

Yeah, a lot of bank reciepts and coffee cups. 😎

Hey, another tag add, if you want, you can join this week's #homesteadingchallenge with the tag because the theme is to do something for Earth/Arbor Day! :)

Thank you! Will add that now!

awesome job there. I just did one in the community this week as well. I believe we picked up 194 pounds of garbage from just a few streets around here and also the 333. mostly timmys cups..put I also got a great big pail with a big hole and a blow up something. Lots of stryofoam and just pure junk. good job

There definitely should be a return reward on those damn coffee cups!

yes less litter, shall i put in the suggestion to Timmys or will you?

Well it sounds like we could both be plaintiffs in a case. 😎

yes

I love willow trees! Great job on the spring cleaning.

Thanks for taking the walk, Buddy. The top of the willow was within my reach when we first got the place over 30 years ago. We would have dual waiding pools that were dumped around it most summer days.

Just when waiding pools were becoming a thing of the past our neighbour sold and moved an office trailer that was in the back yard directly beside the Willow. They had water and sewer running to the trailer so after they moved the piping there was a 3-4 foot hole just across the boundary from the willow. They filled it with gravel and gravelled the rest of the yard. They made a natural well for it and it flowered.

It is now taller than my two story. Probably the largest willow in the city.

I hate how trashy everything looks in the spring. It is amazing how much garbage accumulates.

Agreed. Some of the big corporate contributers (like coffee cups) should have a small buy back premium on their products.

That's not a bad idea.

I hope you have achieved your goal, there are always external causes that make us work a little more encouragement jajajajja.
