Earth Day Special-We Can All Do Our Share!
One Planet, One Earth, One People, One Action that is our mission to save and protect mother earth!
Mother earth has long been forever giving to her sons and daughters-we the people living and consuming all the natural resources we get from mother earth. From the highest land, to deepest waters, to the thickest forest, and from beneath the earth we have all benefited from it. In short we need mother earth to live and survive. But this is the question that we need to answer: how did we return the favor? Have we done something or anything that help preserve, conserve and protect mother earth? Or we are one of the reasons why we are now facing a huge problem, that is destruction of our mother earth? The call is ours, we can be the solution or the problem?
Now everyone can be a solution, we can do something no matter how small it is, it is all worth it! We can simply do our share by helping our community through empowering the people to take functional role in the preservation and cleaning up our surroundings. Our community is basically facing one major problem of solid waste disposal. Some residents are throwing their waste in our coastal areas that brought other problems like water pollution and destruction of marine life. We need to inform the public by showing them that we care through coastal clean up. One major activity aside from doing coastal clean up, is the conduct of campaign awareness of the hazards brought by improper disposal of waste. It is imperative to take note that households waste contribute largely with the problem of solid waste. Through the awareness campaign we can spread tips and techniques to help reduce trashes. Another factor that can aid in the solution of the problem are the local government unit that will directly supervise the management and enforcement of proper waste management.
It is important to instill in our minds and heart that protecting the environment is important. It is our task as teachers to influence our students and make them realize the importance of preserving and protecting our mother earth because our survival depend on it. We, as an inhabitants of mother earth, are important components in carrying this mission. We may have different strategies in showing our care and love for mother earth however time is now to take those strategies in good use and continue on by living a legacy of our own footprint.
Here are some of the strategies that we can all utilize:
- Reducing, reusing and recycling any plastic materials that we use. Some major department stores have now use paper bags and I know for sure its not easy for shoppers carrying goods, so whenever we go shopping we can bring our own reusable plastic bags.
- Using non-toxic, natural cleaners to avoid toxic chemicals being washed down the drain. Major problems that we have right now is that our sewerage system is directly link to our water system, thus causing problems. But if we will not use toxic materials and chemicals then we can help protect our water resources.
- Never patronize one use item, much better buy product of long term usage and reusable.
- Be the solution by being responsible for your waste and working hard to be a model to everyone that we care and love mother earth.
Reflection
Its now time to care and love mother earth. There is no tomorrow, the time is now to protect and preserve mother earth. Eliminate those hindrances that make things harder in pursuing the goal of having a greener and better planet we all dream of. Make everyone realize the importance of caring our surroundings and take full responsibility for all actions. We can all do our share, save, and protect mother earth.
