A quality post, which illustrates contemporary Venezuelan narrative, when talking about Miguel Gomes, one of our most important narrators of the last three decades (apart from essayist and literary researcher). But he also tackles through Gomes's tale a subject that has become neuralgic in recent years: xenophobia.
Gomes, using his scathing irony, confronts us with a situation that is nothing new, but that has taken on a lot of body lately. We have become very intolerant towards the foreigner, the immigrant, when it comes to living respectfully with each other, knowing that as humans we may need each other.

Apparently, although God created the world, men are the owners of the earth and it is they who set limits and frontiers. Although we are inhabitants of this planet, we cannot walk on it freely. How badly have labels, nationalities, men done! If men understood that we are brothers, all children of God and that there can be no borders or phobias between us, the world would be a better place.
