RE: ADSactly Literature - Edgar Allan Poe: Root of Literary Modernity (Part II)

in #literature5 years ago

Great post, @josemalavem.
Poe is one of my favorite writers. He is must read in any American Literature course and his principles of composition and creative writing are very much in vogue even today.
The sad thing about Poe is that dispite his unquestionable achievements and contributions to the development of American literature, as well as his worldwide influence, his work was not that recognized while he lived and his very death was as obscure and grim as the scariest or most farfetched of his stories.

Certainly, @hlezama, Poe should not be missing in the reading training of students not only of the English language but of literature, even I think at the end of high school. I was surprised that in the previous post someone commented that he didn't know him and wasn't part of the readings of his country's literature program.
Poe's topicality is indisputable. Thanks to the French poets, his work could be spread and enhanced, because, as you say, it was ignored in his country for a long time. His way of dying in abandonment is a sad demonstration. Thank you for your reading. Greetings.
