Thanks for promoting and sharing our contemporary writiers. I think that xenophobia has always been a global issue, the same play, only different actors.
Every decade brings new conflicts involving different countries or groups within the same country. These confrontations cause migration waves that in turn cause new fears and dangers for those countries that become the destination of the new migrants.
Venezuelans, Mexicans, and other central Americans, along with people from some African and Middle-East countries are now the object of fear and hatred. Others occupies that possition in the past and others will occupy that possition in the near future, for sure.
It is a never-ending dilemma for those who seek shelter and for those who have to face the foreigner, the alien.
Hopefully, the case of good foreigners will prevail over those that ratify the hosts' worst fears and doors will remain open for those in need.
One of the arguments some people use to despise immigrants is the criminal or threatening behaviour of a few, and it makes it easier for them to judge nations than individuals. I am sure that all countries, without exception, have good and bad things, and it is not because of them that we should generalise and fall into false labels. Thank you for commenting, @hlezama.
