If you're holding your own keys and not allowing exchanges to hold your coins, then you can end up with more coins. The fork of BCH at the beginning of August was more like a stock split, FUD in July but went sky high thereafter.
The overall trend is unmistakable, one of these cryptocurrencies will become the next Google of finance. When the lightning network comes online, transaction speeds will increase and then Visa / MC will have serious competition.
This will cause an equity leak in the USD and other national fiats which could cause government decrees for the criminalization of these alternate forms of payment. When this happens, you want to have your 12 - 24 word seed in your head and a hardware wallet.
I have a little bit of Litecoin and a very very small amount of Bitcoin but in coinbase very new to this not too sure to hold the key , I might need to do some more research but thanks
I recommend a Trezor wallet or Ledger S Nano. If you're not holding a lot of crypto then it might not be worth it to you because hardware wallets run around $100 - $150. But it's the best way to be sure of the security and not difficult to figure out.

Keeping your money on an exchange violates the principles of Satoshi Nakamoto (bitcoin founder) anyway. When government closes these, the rest of the world (those outside of the system) will still be able to use it.
What authority doesn't seem to understand is that it's the worlds 2+ billion unbanked that are fueling this revolution.
