this gives us a microkernel (something mac os x uses) which limits the low level functions in the kernel to just a handful, thus allowing high optimization while drivers live outside the kernel and in a separate user space (increasing security) and ultimately (hopefully) making the kernel nearly invulnerable to attacks as everything lives outside the kernel that could be a threat to security (we must trust our own hardware.. that is, and can't be avoided, security risk).
they have work to do yet, but I think it will be big soon.
