Today we gonna speak about 6 less known or not very popular Linux distributions, that are still very interesting, useful and valuable.

They are gonna be: Void Linux, Arch Linux, NixOS, Bedrock Linux, Gentoo Linux and GuixSD.

First of all, let's look at the mentioned systems, their package base, target user base and release cycle.

NixOS

  • Nix, the package manager used in NixOS, has a unique approach to package management that enables atomic upgrades and rollbacks, making it a reliable and secure choice.
  • NixOS uses a declarative configuration model, which allows for easy reproducibility of system configuration and simplifies the process of system administration.

Bedrock Linux

  • Bedrock Linux allows users to mix and match components from different Linux distributions, providing a high degree of flexibility and customization options.
  • Bedrock Linux provides a unique and powerful inter-distribution concept that allows users to use different libraries or tools from different distributions within a single system.

Gentoo Linux

  • Gentoo Linux allows for a high degree of customization, with users having control over virtually every aspect of the system, including the kernel and individual packages.
  • Gentoo Linux provides detailed documentation and a large repository of software packages, making it a great option for users who want to learn more about how their system works.

GuixSD
