Still working on the LinuxMint vs Ubuntu video...
Linux Mint vs. Ubuntu, which is best for new users?
This video is taking longer than anticipated, feel like letting of some "steem", and talk about the process/progress:
My setup:
So I'm working on a Dell Precision Workstation. Xeon E5-1650: 6cores/[email protected]. 16gb DDR3, and a Nvidia Quadro K2000. A decent Audio Technica USB Condenser mic and 1080p 30FPS Logitech cam.
Running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with Gnome-Shell.
Recording with OBS Studio
Audio running through JACK with Real-Time processing, using Calf Studio plugs to clean up my vocal recording. Because my MIC is a condenser it's ultra sensitive even with only one Xeon machine running, my Xeon server died so that really sucked but took my noise floor down.
The Workflow...
So first I write core concepts and points I want to mention out as a Markdown document in Typora. Then I usually gather up visual resources, in this case I wanted to mention that my videos are on Youtube, D.tube, Bitchute and LBRY. And promote my new social accounts: Minds, Gab, Twitter, and Mastodon. Then Ubuntu and Linux Mint logos. Pull it all into Inkscape, sometimes GIMP, and create graphics for my intro.
I'm testing with fresh installs of Ubuntu 18.04 and Linux Mint 19 using VMware Workstation-Pro, I've literally recorded most of the entire video twice, and then gone back and recorder extra parts to fix problems, I end up doing this every time.
Every time I want to record I have to spin-up the VM's, start JACK, start Calf Studio & load up my saved plug-in chain, start OBS Studio, and then load my JACK routing session. This is problematic.
Also, where I am in the states the temperature is now 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. We're not running A/C until it gets hot, but a Xeon machine running 10 programs simultaneously, with OBS stressing the Nvidia Quadro to 82 Celsius makes the room pretty toasty. Especially wearing Sony studio phones, with the window closed to keep out the noise.
Where I'm at:
I think I'm 90% done recording, I'm sure something will come up. As far as editing goes I'm hopefully about 40% done. I've got the Intro through most of the Ubuntu 18.04 side of the video, and the length is at 18 minutes. Used the Position and Zoom effect for the first time. Hoping I can keep this video under 45 minutes runtime.
Just had to take a break. Gotta stay focused and not waste time.
The Android tutorial video is still in very early stage, but I HOPE to do much less editing..
The idea of the video is to do it all using only Android. However, Android doesn't have an alternative to Inkscape so I already created an info-graphic. The other hurdle is editing, I have Lexis Audio Editor for doing my post-sound work, but the only video editor that does everything I need is Kinemaster, it's a legitimate video editor with a timeline and layering/compositing. The free trial is out of the question because it's watermarked, but it costs $4.99 a month or $39.99 for a year.
Filmora-GO was another one I tested out a while ago when seeing if the Android concept was viable, but the free version's compositing of my graphics was terrible, and there was no mention on better quality with the paid version so...
