I think they can actually revoke the code. Which naturally will not cause it to be removed from archived releases - but will stop effective continuity of the software life cycle.
So this may, at least in theory, prove quite disruptive, as far as I can tell.
I can't remember which podcast went over this but basically gpl2 allows them to revoke but cannot stop them from still putting it back. Also for anyone to do this will be heavily criticised by the rest of the community.
