LinkedIn New Format Impact on the Summary

The Problem with LinkedIn Profiles is that most people tend to use it in a mechanical way without thinking about who is going to read the Profile and what type of message your are conveying. The Whole thing is Marketing a message to an audience. But people tend to send message just telling their novel to themselves.

2 pieces of critical LinkedIn Ad Real Estate:

  • The Headline: 120 Characteres
  • The 1º Paragraph of the Summary: 230 Characters. I´am using 230 characters to make work either for mobile.

These are the only ones visible when anyone arrives at a Profile. The First one, being seeing across all modules of LinkedIn even without opening the profile.

Awareness of the importance of 1º Paragraph of the Summary came into existence on my mind at June 4, 2018m 8:45AM as I am auditing Profile of ms. https://www.linkedin.com/in/maria-victoria-reigadas/

In my view this first paragraph must complement the Headline and avoid redundancy of keywords, ideas and concepts being conveyed to the target audience.

Here you have an example of what I am saying:

Headline:

Maria Victoria Reigadas
Ejecutiva de cuentas Banca Internacional con experiencia en back office, ventas y atención al cliente

First paragraph of her Summary:

Ejecutiva de cuentas internacionales, bilingüe, con de 10 años de experiencia en ventas del sector bancario y operadores de mercado. Gestión y asesoría en banca privada para particulares y corporativos. En proceso de certificación

In this example you can clearly see the redundancy of Ejecutiva de cuentas internacionales.

In conclusion, with the New LinkedIn Profile Rendering Format you have a total of 350 Characters to make your Pit Sales: 120 characters from the Headline, and 230 from the first paragraph of the LinkedIn Summary.

I know, every one has it own head and ideas, But at least from my perspective these are the instructions I will conveyed to my clients. It is a just Take or Leave it Idea. Nothing more, nothing else.
