→ How Technicolor Changed Movies

in #link6 years ago

If you are a movie lover, you are probably familiar with Technicolor, even if you only know the name. It was the primary color processing technique in Hollywood for most of the early 20th century, meaning almost all classic Hollywood movies that are in color use Technicolor. It was often extremely saturated (think Wizard of Oz), but it didn't have to be, and it had a unique look that just feels classic.

This video is an excellent look at it.

If you are still eager for more, the Everipedia article has a lot of great info. This site has a lot of great info on the history of the process too.

Link Blog

Back when I had my own website, I used to post a few random links everyday or every few days, in the style of http://kottke.org or http://daringfireball.net. Readers seemed to enjoy seeing them.

To signify a link post, I'll put an arrow (→) at the beginning of the title to show you guys it is a link post and that you can skip it if such things don't interest you.

Hi thereDavid LaSpina is an American photographer lost in Japan, trying to capture the beauty of this country one photo at a time. More?
