Will Lightning fix everything?

Most Bitcoiners have the same ultimate goal: build a useful and free money. However, the best path to achieve this goal is unclear. The Bitcoin scaling debate has been ever present: can Bitcoin scale on chain or are second layer solutions required?

For now, the Bitcoin network tries to do both, increase the blocksize with SegWit and move some transactions to the second layer, i.e. Lightning.
