Maternity 2.0
With the rise of social networks has unleashed a cultural phenomenon in a segment of the population that for a time was behind: THE MOTHERS. In Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and others there are incalculable accounts that I have called "Moms 2.0" all willing to tell us until the last retail of their lives.
How do I know? Because I succumbed to the electrifying spell of some of these accounts and that led me to another and then to another in an endless circle of maternal stories. Some advice on breastfeeding, others on respectful upbringing, some are hilarious and others are specialists in everything. Believe me, there is an underworld that surrounds motherhood.
I will not deny it, it is a guilty pleasure to see from the screen of my cell phone, the incidents, internal conflicts, cooking recipes and even the advertising of articles for children. I know, they'll ask, what do you gain from that? Answer: I, absolutely nothing, they endless followers and perhaps some benefit of advertising.
These Moms 2.0 are experts in taking pictures worthy of a NatGeo award, they record videos in the best style of Nuno Gómez (Venezuelan director of video music), they take "natural" selfies that would awaken the envy of Heidy Klum, in short they are experts in the use (and abuse) of social networks.
I must confess that I do not know how they do it. I swear on my cell phone that I have tried unsuccessfully to take a selfie without seeing Don Francisco's double chin, or that my children are still, immobile, they both smile at the same time, no one cries or gets angry (including myself). Just remember it I get tired and I think about it better before trying.
Most of these moms 2.0 show us a reality taken from magazines: immaculate house, well behaved children and hairstyles, laughing housban and just missing little birds singing everywhere like Disney movie.
Now, although motherhood is wonderful, not everything is color pink. According to my own experience it's like riding a roller coaster, sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry, sometimes I enjoy the ride and I'm excited not to know what's coming and although I really enjoy my visits to the lives of my dear moms 2.0, I can’t deny it , I prefer to keep my private life as it has been until now: private, fully enjoy the most important moments and treasure them in my memory and perhaps sometimes share them with others.
This has made me reflect on how exposed I have been in social networks or the behaviors that in real life we avoid doing but neglect on the internet; for example: we do not show pictures of our children to the driver of the bus or our vacation to the first person we see on the corner of the street.
For my part, I strive to be careful with my loved ones and I also dedicate myself to live the moment without having to shout every 2 minutes "Selfieeeeeeee" and of course keep watching and having fun with my favorite moms 2.0.
