Get Lost. Have Fun. Be Wasted

We wanted to bask ourselves to some grain of sun and burn our skin under the scorching heat of the sun. So, my friends and I decided to try one of the beautiful islands in Cebu, Philippines, known as Camotes Island.

So, if you love pristine, panoramic sea view hugged by white sand, magnificent rock view formations with a fancy island overview plus a mystical underground cave? Then, Camotes is perfect for you!

So how do we get there?

Well, there are three ways you can try.

First, an Ocean Jet fast craft available in Pier 1, Cebu City. The travel time is around an hour and 30 minutes which tickets fall around 500-800 pesos.

Second, Jomalia Express is located in Danao port, Danao City. The travel time is around two hours, and tickets fall around 200-250.

Third, Jomalia Fastcraft is serving you at Mactan Wharf near Island Central Mall, and the travel time runs around an hour and 15 minutes.

Since Jomalia Fastcraft is not yet available at that time. We go to Danao City port and try the Jomalia Express. Just be early. Many travellers are in the queue.

Once we get there! We rent some van and share the rental fee with friends cost around 3500-4000 pesos. But, if you travel alone or two, having a van is expensive. So, you may look for motorbikes that cost around 400 -500 pesos for the entire day.

So what are the things we can try there?

We are captivated first by a picture-postcard view of Mangodlong Beach Resort. You will be astounded by the sandbar kissing the green-crystal sea, which is a holy sight on our first visit. There are tropical huts available for rent that shade you for the entire day while being blazed by the sea breeze. You can do Snorkel, kayak, wind sail, and diving here. This beautiful spot has 20 pesos per head entrance fee.

After strolling around for about an hour, we go back to the van and try the next site.

Lucky, The next site is a guitar-shaped lake with deep blue waters and a relaxing aura. The place is known as Lake Danao or The Lover's Lake. If you are with special someone, try doing kayaking, boating, pedal boating, or horseback riding. I tell you, it is quite romantic. Knowing the place is perfect for pre-nuptial venues. If you are with friends and family, you can enjoy the area since there is a pool nearby which children and teenagers can bond, and there are some activities which can be done in groups too like having a lake cruise costs 500 pesos.

This place is just 15 minutes or less from the Camotes port. However, if you are a solo traveler, then do not fret. The lake is a perfect venue to unwind and to find yourself. The lake offers serenity and moments for self-discovery. The lake is open by 6 in the morning and closes by 6 in the evening every day.

Then, we try the famous Timubo Cave, a cave near Danao park.

In the entrance, you can see a small hole leading you to the underground cave pool about 6 feet deep that you can fully enjoy swimming away from the sun. While you are into the cold swim, you will be awe by the stalactites and stalagmites decorating the cave. There is an entrance fee cost around 20 pesos.

What I will never forget on the island of Camotes is the famous Santiago White Beach. This place is a paradise! A must when you are on Camotes.

Santiago White Beach is a public beach line, where during low tide, you can see the vast and clear blue waters, while during high tide looking like a giant pool locked by the shoreline. You can try sunbathing, swimming or even have you camping and do stargazing at night.

My friends and I spend most of our afternoon swimming, video karaoke, and making sandcastles

Without wasting much of our time, we go to Poro, Camotes, around 27 minutes away from the Consuelo Wharf. The town has the famous Buho Rock.

The place is known for cliff diving at approximately 50 feet.

For about 20 pesos entrance fee, you can also enjoy the view and see its wonders. There are open huts for you to stay and you can bring food and drinks if you wish to stay longer in the area.
