What my vacation from virtual world thought me

in #lifestyle7 years ago

This weekend, my partner and I took a trip to San Diego. We just wanted to get away from the busy life in Los Angeles to a much calmer place - away from phones, away from friends and definitely away from the traffic. We really needed to relax and work on ourselves. Going on a holiday, cutting off from internet is an unexplored gift of life. You know that old saying 'when all else fails, take a vacation' - It's completely true. Vacations have scientifically proven to be a great buster.

We woke up to a chilly weather, had a good filling sandwich for breakfast (Conscious enough to NOT post a picture on Instagram). We spoke about our life, future and some sweet memories. Our first realization was how we were always running to accomplish something, running so fast that we are forgetting to enjoy our happy moments. It's so easy to be consumed with our work that we sometimes miss the forest through the trees.

We then headed to the San Diego Zoo - being amidst the trees, animals and children was a breath taking experience. Cute panda's and polar bears! It was a great educational resource to learn about animals. Although I don't fancy the idea of them being caged and entertaining viewers, it was a great sight to see African giraffes to Asian elephants to Alaska's panda - all in one place. It a must visit place for families with children. I could see that the kids preferred watching lions and tigers in real than on YouTube.

Later in the evening, we reached Seaport Village to catch the sunset. Deep blue sea, wide spread water and some good old music is something to experience. Our second realization was from the waters. No matter how big your problems are, the world does not stop spinning. The fishes, sharks continue to live, the tides continue to fall and rise. Friends on Facebook and twitter will go on with their life, how will you be okay? YOU need to find that potential in yourself to get up and fix things. It's okay to rely on others for support but isn't it more empowering to help yourself

So this vacation did give us perspective. There are holidays that give you the buzz, the buzz you need to celebrate your life and then there holidays that give you energy, the energy you need to find yourself and start living life with a purpose. San Diego belongs to the latter. It embraces you with positivity!IMG_20170327_095545_122.jpg
