Why Eat Clean?

Eating Clean is something that many people, especially those in my life have said whats the purpose? Is anything really what we believe it is? Well while you have to be careful what foods and drinks you choose the point of eating clean is keep the chemicals out of your body. I know.. I know.. but the bad foods taste so good. That is so you an slowly kill yourself and never suspect your doing harm. On a high note eating clean helped me to lose weight effortlessly which is another reason to just try!

The fact is that our bodies are like fined tuned machines that need certain things to run properly. When we put these additives and perseverance, or chemicals, into them like most machines that don't have what they need to run they begin to not work properly. Take Antibiotics for example. Yes antibiotics are found in milk, meats, and a lot of dairy due to the antibiotics given to animals to reduce death rate from wide spread infection because of the disgusting conditions of the farming facilities. When we consume these antibiotics through our food it makes us resistant to antibiotics when we get sick. Thus that is why we are seeing these "Super-bugs" now that can not be treated with antibiotics.

Some friends of mine have said "I do the best I can, I don't eat sugar, I use Spenda or Sweet n Low instead". Okay so your putting aspartame into you body, another chemical that over time causes brain damage. Yes aspartame is an artificial sweetener becomes a neurotransmitter during digestion, meaning that it can cross the blood-brain barrier. After it crosses that barrier, it can damage and kill brain cells. The body quickly processes aspartame and breaks it down into methanol, which the body can then convert into formaldehyde. This particular conversion can cause changes in cell structure, leading to disease and chronic health conditions. It can contribute to these health problems: Breathing difficulties, depression, anxiety attacks, fatigue, and irritability, dizziness, headaches/migraines, hearing loss, heart palpitations, insomnia, memory loss, muscle spasms, rashes, and my favorite weight GAIN, not to mention some other rather disturbing health problems like seizures, tachycardia, and vision problems.

Our food contain so many additives that if I listed them all this article would go on forever. I advise people to do the research, so may chemicals we have in our food and over look because the FDA has said they are okay but they really are hurting us is things like high fructose corn syrup, hormones, MSG, nitrates, and Olestra. We need to watch for these additives in our foods. We are living shorter lives than our grand parents or our great grandparents due to the influx of chemicals in our food. They had whole food that were less saturated with additives and preservatives and that is who we should get back to eating. That doesn't mean I am telling you to give up the things you live to eat I am just saying to make more from scratch and stop buying boxed convenience foods for example if you love mac n cheese, have it but use real cheese and whole cream from grass fed cows that are hormone and antibiotic free. It really is that simple.

Mac N Cheese Recipe (Clean)

Macaroni and Cheese

Serves: 6

Longing for comfort food? Try this clean eating macaroni and cheese. You'll love it and so will everyone else!
Ingredients
2¼ c. whole wheat elbow macaroni
Olive oil
¼ c. whole wheat flour
¼ tsp. sea salt
1 c. skim milk
3 oz. low fat Swiss cheese, shredded
5 oz. low fat cheddar cheese, shredded
1 Tbsp. whole wheat panko breadcrumbs
2 Tbsp. low fat Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Cook macaroni according to package directions.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Lightly grease a 1½ qt. casserole dish with olive oil. Add flour and salt to medium bowl and whisk in enough milk to make a paste. Whisk in remaining milk until no lumps remain.
Place a medium saucepan over medium heat and add flour milk mixture. When milk is warm, add Swiss cheese and stir until melted. Add cheddar cheese and stir until melted and mixture begins to thicken.
Stir in cooked macaroni and transfer to casserole dish.
In a small bowl, stir together breadcrumbs and Parmesan. Sprinkle over macaroni.
Bake 15-20 minutes or until top is lightly browned.
Allow to stand 5 minutes before serving. Makes about 6½ cups.
